The Freedom recorded their second victory in the competition after defeating LA Knight Riders by six wickets.
Freedom took a massive step towards securing qualification for the MLC Finals with an impressive performance at Church Street Park, Morrisville.
It was the first match of the competition played in North Carolina and after winning the toss, captain Moises Henriques opted to bowl.
Freedom got off to an excellent start thanks to tight bowling from Marco Jansen and Saurabh Netravalkar, with the latter trapping Jason Roy in front for seven.
The opening half of the innings was dominated by Freedom, with Henriques taking two wickets in an over and Akeal Hosein clean bowling Jaskaran Malhotra to leave Knight Riders 68 for four in the eleventh over.
But that wicket brought Andre Russell to the crease, who along with Rilee Rossouw put on a masterclass of T20 batting as they began to find the boundary with regularity.
The pair added 86 in 46 balls with Russell finishing unbeaten on 70 from 37 deliveries to lift Knight Riders up to 175.
It was a stern total, but Freedom got off to the perfect start as Matt Short and Andries Gous piled on the runs to break the back of the chase within the powerplay.
The pair added 68 in 5.2 overs before Gous was caught at mid-wicket having scored a fantastic 40 off 15 balls.
Short would find more support in the shape of Mukthar Ahmed (15) and Glenn Phillips (29), but would depart himself to the bowling of Sunil Narine for 43.
That would leave it to Henriques and Obus Pienaar to see the team home, and the pair did so comfortably, knocking off the final 42 runs at a canter to give Freedom their second win of the competition.
