Good teams don't spend too much time looking in the rear-view mirror, they focus on the road ahead. The quick turnaround doesn't concern us. If anything, it offers the perfect chance to respond.
After a disappointing start to our 2026 campaign against Seattle Orcas, we have an immediate opportunity to get back on track when we take on a familiar rival in MI New York.
And if history is any indication, it's a challenge we'll relish.
There were enough positives in our opener to know that we're not far away. Mitchell Owen scored a blistering 61, while Mark Chapman produced a classy 57 as we surged past the 200-run mark. The signs were there. The intent was there. The execution, for large parts, was there.
Now, it's about putting it all together.
Recent history has favored us in this matchup. We've won four of our last five meetings against MINY, finding ways to come out on top against one of the league's most star-studded line-ups. Whether through explosive batting, timely breakthroughs, or winning key moments, we've consistently managed to rise to the occasion.
But records don't win games. Performances do.
That's what makes this contest so intriguing. Our batting group has already shown it possesses the firepower to challenge any attack in the competition, while our bowling unit will be determined to produce the all-round display we've come to expect of ourselves.
Back-to-back games test every squad's depth, resilience and character. Fortunately, those are qualities we pride ourselves on.
A familiar opponent. A fresh opportunity. A chance to turn promise into points.
The season is only beginning, but this is the perfect stage for us to make a statement.
