Tanveer Sangha tastes World Cup glory as travelling reserve, whilst Akeal Hosein wins the Super50 Cup in the Caribbean

Australia dominates the latest round up of how our players are performing around the world, with Tanveer Sangha the standout, having been a part of the extended Australia squad that won the ODI World Cup.

Sangha was a travelling reserve, who stayed with the group throughout, and is now playing in the T20 series against India alongside fellow Freedom player Matt Short.

Naturally, with Australia winning the World Cup, it meant that the competition ended in defeat at the semi-final stage for both of Freedom’s other representatives at the competition: Marco Jansen and Glenn Phillips. Jansen’s South Africa lost to Australia in the semi-final by three wickets, Glenn Phillips’ New Zealand fell to a 70 run defeat against India.

Elsewhere in the world, Akeal Hosein was part of a victorious Trinidad & Tobago side who cruised to victory in the Super50 Cup. Trinidad & Tobago were led by fellow Major League Cricket player Sunil Narine, who announced his retirement from international cricket midway through the tournament.
