Major League Cricket may be over, but our players continue to do us proud.
Despite being less than a month on from the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket, several of our players are already impressing in various corners of the globe.
Opening batter Matt Short earned his maiden call-up to Australia’s white-ball squad for the series against South Africa, whilst Tanveer Sangha is also expected to feature, having also been named in Australia’s extended 18-man squad for the ODI World Cup. Short and Sangha won’t be the only Freedom players on show during the South Africa v Australia series with Anrich Nortje in South Africa’s ODI squad and Marco Jansen in both the ODI and T20 set-ups.
The likes of Adam Milne and Glenn Phillips have featured heavily for their respective teams in The Hundred, whilst Akeal Hosein turned out for the West Indies in their 3-2 T20I series victory over India.
Domestically, we were delighted to see that Saurabh Netravalkar’s superb performance in MLC was rewarded as he was signed by Gulf Giants for the ILT20 that will take place in the UAE in January. Netravalkar, at the time of writing, is also currently the leading wicket taker in Minor League Cricket, with 13 wickets at an average of 8.4.
Justin Dill and Usman Rafiq have also had strong starts for their respective clubs in MiLC, whilst Dane Piedt, Obus Pienaar, Mukthar Ahmed and Andries Gous are currently competing in the Masters T10 tournament in Florida, a competition featuring legends such as Jacques Kallis and Harbhajan Singh.
