A new city and a new opportunity to continue on from where we left off last Saturday, June 20. We have touched down in Oakland and are back in action, under the lights on Thursday night. After a rock-solid show against MI New York, the #FreedomExpress is headed to the Oakland Coliseum to take on the Seattle Orcas.
Our first meeting with the Orcas on June 19 didn't go the way we wanted, but given the heroics in our last outing, we are all ready for the challenge this time around. Currently, the head-to-head record against Seattle is 3-2, and we have all it takes to keep it going in our favor.
Our batting group has looked dangerous so far in the tournament, with 200-plus scores in our first two games. Mitchell Owen has been in the kind of form that changes games early, as seen with his record-breaking knock of 155 in his latest outing. Meanwhile, Captain Steve Smith's calm and control has set the tone of what this lineup can do. And when Glenn Maxwell gets going, there aren't many attacks in this competition that can keep him quiet.
Ian Holland has been one of the standout bowlers of our campaign so far, tightening things up in the middle overs and chipping in with wickets when it matters most - at an economy of 6.88. Saurabh Netravalkar has matched that intensity, bowling lengths that test the opposition batters’ endurance at the crease.
There's also a potential new face joining the mix. Nikhil Chaudhary, the Delhi-born Australian all-rounder fresh off his international debut against Bangladesh, is an exciting prospect we could see in Freedom colors.
Two games in, third on the table, and plenty of season left to run. All eyes on Oakland now!
