Dale Steyn is widely considered one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game.

He retired in 2021, having played in over 250 games across all formats for South Africa, as well as the very best franchise teams around the world.

Born in a small town in South Africa, and with Zimbabwean heritage, Steyn was obsessed with skateboarding, but broke on to the international scene as a 21-year-old. He stood out initially for his pace, and remained quick throughout his career, but gradually became a master craftsman with the ball, capable of extracting movement left or right through the air, and sharp bouncer for a relatively short bowler.

Steyn was known for being one of the fiercest competitors in the game, who loved nothing more than bowling fast and nasty, but is hugely respected for his professionalism and respect for the game.

Now early in his coaching career, he will be vital counsel for our bowlers, and bring an encyclopaedic knowledge of bowling to the world’s best batters.
