Washington Freedom eye back-to-back MLC titles on Sunday

The Cognizant Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 Qualifier between Washington Freedom and the Texas Super Kings was abandoned due to heavy rain in Dallas on Tuesday.

After Washington Freedom captain Glenn Maxwell won the toss and elected to field at Grand Prairie Stadium, the MLC 2025 Qualifier was called off following a relentless spell of rain.

With no reserve day scheduled, defending champions Washington Freedom advanced directly to the MLC 2025 Championship by virtue of finishing above the Super Kings in the league stage, where they topped the table.

Earlier in the day, the stadium was placed under a lightning advisory shortly after the toss. This was followed by a storm and subsequently heavy rainfall, which ultimately led to the abandonment of the Qualifier due to inclement weather conditions.

Reigning champions Washington Freedom will now aim to clinch back-to-back MLC titles in the 2025 Championship, scheduled to be played in Dallas on Sunday.
