Tanveer Sangha replaces Wanindu Hasaranga

Tanveer Sangha has signed for Washington Freedom as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga.

Sangha, 21, is a wrist-spinner from Australia and a product of New South Wales, who the Freedom have an ongoing strategic partnership with.

He comes in for Hasaranga, who was not provided with an NOC (no-objection-certificate) for the competition by Sri Lanka Cricket as they look to manage his workloads.

Sangha is incredibly highly thought of within Australian cricketing circles and has featured in multiple national development squads after making his debut in the Big Bash for Sydney Thunder at just 19-years-old.

A leg spinner who has a bright future in all formats of the game, he has an exceptional T20 record, having taken 37 wickets in just 28 matches. He averages 18.43 with the ball and has a fantastic economy rate of 7.46. His phenomenal performances in the Big Bash led to him receiving a deal in The Hundred with Birmingham Phoenix last year, before injury ruled him out of the entire Australian summer.

We look forward to Sangha pulling on the red, white and blue of Washington Freedom and continuing his rise to stardom as one of the most exciting young spinners in the world.
