Amila Aponso is a left-arm orthodox spinner from Sri Lanka who made his international debut in 2016. Known for his control and flight, he made headlines with a match-winning 4/18 against Australia in just his second ODI. Aponso was the leading wicket-taker for Ragama Cricket Club in the 2018-19 domestic season, claiming 47 wickets in nine matches. He later moved to the USA and became a key pick in Cognizant Major League Cricket, winning the Championship in 2024 and he is now a key asset for Washington Freedom for the 2025 season.
