Four Freedom players represent Australia

History was made as Matt Short, Tanveer Sangha, Ben Dwarshuis and Josh Philippe all turned out for Australia in the same match against India, whilst there were also fantastic performances from Dane Piedt and Glenn Phillips in international cricket.

It was an historic day for Washington Freedom, as four of our squad members all played together for Australia against India in the five-match T20 series.

All of Matt Short, Tanveer Sangha, Ben Dwarshuis and Josh Philippe took to the pitch in Raipur and Bengaluru, with Dwarshuis and Philippe called into the squad as late replacements following the third T20.

Sangha played in all five matches of the series, but it was Dwarshuis who impressed the most, taking five wickets in the two matches he played.

Elsewhere, Glenn Phillips marked his return to the New Zealand Test team by picking up a four-wicket haul against Bangladesh, a superb achievement after years of hard work on his bowling to get a spot back in the Black Caps Test set-up.

But Phillips’ performance wasn’t even the standout showing from a Washington Freedom spinner of the week, which belonged to fan favourite Dane Piedt. Piedt has returned to playing domestic cricket in South Africa, and in South Africa ‘A’s match against West Indies ‘A’, Piedt claimed match-winning figures of 11-107. It was his fourth ten-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

Elsewhere, Andries Gous, Akeal Hosein and Obus Pienaar are competing in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
