2010 Washington Freedom Center of Excellence Tryouts Announced
February 14 & 21 at the Maryland SoccerPlex
The Washington Freedom will be holding open tryouts for its U13-U16 Center of Excellence teams on February 14 and February 21 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, Maryland. The Freedom’s Center of Excellence Teams play in the USL Super-Y League from June through August and has featured teams each November in the North American Finals in Tampa, Florida.

Freedom Named #1 Girls Club in North America for Second Year in a Row
The Washington Freedom were again named the #1 Girls Club in North America by the United Soccer Leagues for the second year in a row. The club achieved a staggering 46-7-5 record in 2009, improving from a 45-7-6 record in 2008. The Freedom’s Center of Excellence teams compete in the USL Super Y-League & Super-20 League. The Center of Excellence consists of 5 teams from the U13 to U20 age levels.

Washington Freedom renames W-League Team the Freedom Futures
BOYDS, MD – November 25, 2009 - The Washington Freedom of Women’s Professional Soccer has officially renamed its W-League team. The W-league team, which plays in the United Soccer League (USL W-League), has been changed from the Washington Freedom W-League to the Freedom Futures, a move made to reinforce the difference between the W-League team and the WPS first team, the Washington Freedom.

Molly Allen Named to Canadian U20 National Team Camp
The Canadian women’s U-20 team has announced that it will play a two game series against Mexico this 29 and 31 October in Juarez, Mexico. The two matches will follow a short training camp at the University of Texas El Paso. Freedom Defender Molly Allen has been named to the 24 player training camp.

The Washington Freedom, having finished yet another successful season at all levels throughout the club, has seen several of it’s college age players make an impact with their various college teams. After watching players filter back to their colleges during the W-League playoff run as well as right after the Super-20 North American Finals, Freedom players are standing out.

Chante Sandiford named U19 Player of the Year
United Soccer Leagues announced the top W-League honors for the 2009 season Wednesday, honoring the U19 Player of the Year, Defender of the Year, Coach of the Year and Most Valuable Player as voted on by the league’s coaches and general managers.

Super-20 Finals Honors Announced
Freedom's Brown and Chang Named to All-Tournament Team
Following the completion of USL’s fourth annual Super-20 League Women’s Finals championed by two-time winner Triangle FC in Rockford, Illinois on Sunday, August 2 – USL has released the 2009 All-Tournament Team as voted by the coaches. The Washington Freedom had two players named to the team, Tiffany Brown and Brook Chang.

Freedom to face Pali Blues in W-League Championship
Kickoff set for 7:30 at Maryland SoccerPlex on Friday, August 7th
After winning three straight playoff games, the Washington Freedom (15-1-1) is one victory away from clinching their second W-League title in three years. The visiting Pali Blues (12-0-3), undefeated since joining the league last season, are looking to defend their 2008 championship.

Freedom W-League advances to finals
Defeats Ottawa Fury in penalty kicks
The Washington Freedom continued their playoff run on Saturday, defeating the Ottawa Fury 3-1 on penalty kicks. After regulation ended deadlocked at 0-0, the two sides played to two scoreless fifteen-minute halves of extra time leading to the penalty shootout.
