The Canadian women’s U-20 team has announced that it will play a two game series against Mexico this 29 and 31 October in Juarez, Mexico. The two matches will follow a short training camp at the University of Texas El Paso.
Freedom defender Molly Allen was named to the 24 player training camp in hopes of earning a place in the games against Mexico. Allen played for the Freedom W-League team for the 2009 season and played the full 90 minutes in the W-League Championship Game that was televised live on Fox Soccer Channel. The Freedom fell short in an entertaining 2-1 loss to the Pali Blues.
“We couldn’t be happier for Molly. It’s always an honor to be called into your National Team and after seeing Molly’s hard work and progress through the summer we think she’ll do well at the camp,” said Freedom W-League Coach Win Puffer.
Allen started off her college season well in 2009 before an ankle sprain has kept her off the field over the past few matches. She has stared in 8 games of the 10 games she’s played in for Virginia Commonwealth University.
