The Washington Freedom W-League team defeated the Western Massachusetts Lady Pioneers this past weekend by a score of 4-0, improving their overall record to 3-1-0 on the season. Brittany Tegeler tallied two goals for the Freedom and Jenn Parsons added one to the scoreboard. Tiffany McCarty had one goal and two assists on the night.
The Freedom U20 squad is a force to be reckoned with in the Mid-Atlantic division, tallying an impressive 20 goals and posting three shutouts in their first three matches. The Freedom has defeated Nova FC, the NJ Rangers, and the Brooklyn Knights, with scores of 7-0, 8-0, and 5-0, respectively. The team is currently in 2nd place in the Mid-Atlantic division, having played two fewer games than the leading Parsippany SC.
The Freedom Super Y-League teams traveled to Quickstrike FC on June 13th for their only contest on the season to date. The U16 Freedom ended in a 1-1 draw with the Quickstrike, while the U15 team fell 2-1. The U14s defeated the Quickstrike 3-0, and the U13 Freedom squad pulled out a 2-1 victory.
An exciting, action-packed weekend lies ahead for Freedom players and fans. The Freedom W-League team plays two home matches this weekend at the Maryland SoccerPlex, facing the NY Magic at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th, and the NJ Wildcats at 6 p.m. the following day.
The next home matches for the U20s are against Princeton Soccer on June 20th and Match Fit Chelsea Academy FC on June 21st. Kick-off for both games is at 5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park field #2.
The U13 and U14 Freedom teams play this Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, at Lewinsville Park #2.
All four Freedom Super Y-League teams take on the Perugia Grifos this Sunday, June 21st at Georgetown Prep. Games are scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m., beginning at the U13 age group.
