McLean Freedom Players Named to The Washington Post's First Team
Remi Gibba named Player of the Year

The Washington Post announced their All-Met honors for girl's high school soccer last week.  The players were selected by The Post's Soraya Nadia McDonald.

Remi Gibba, a midfielder who played for St. John's High School and for the McLean Freedom, was named the Player of the Year.  The Purdue-bound Gibba led the Cadets to the WCAC regular season title and was named the league's player of the year.  Her confident, aggressive style of play became her trademark as she led the Cadets with 12 goals and six assists.  Comfortable anywhere on the field, she also sparkled as an outside back for the Freedom.  When asked when she knew she was good at soccer, Gibba replied, "I actually was always the scrawniest one.  I spent a year with my trainer and I just 'soccered' out, man, and it was around U-13, U-14 where I started getting a little bit more confidence.  And it was around U-15 where I got muscles.  And all of a sudden, I was like, I'm not too bad."

Caroline Miller, a forward for Walter Johnson High School and for the McLean Freedom, was named to the All-Met First Team.  A two-time NSCAA All-American and repeat All-Met, Miller tallied 29 goals and nine assists for her high school.  She will play at the University of Virginia next fall.
