Washington Freedom’s mission is to provide a traditional club that supports a professional women’s team and provides soccer services for female soccer players and fans of women’s soccer.
Washington Freedom’s vision is to build a traditional club wherein our ultimate goal is to develop players from the youngest ages to one day play with other top professional athletes for our professional team. The vision begins with Freedom youth club team affiliates and coaches in Maryland and Virginia that during the summer blend into high quality Center of Excellence teams that play in the USL Super Y-League. We also have a Center of Excellence team that plays in the USL Super-20 League that is a combination of college players and older youth players. Above that in our pyramid is our Freedom Futures W-League team, an amateur team that consists of college and senior players and will serve as our top developmental team. These players will be allowed to continue to develop and benefit from a professional training environment. At the very top of our pyramid will be our Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) team that will consist of world-class players from the United States and abroad. Some of our youth players will climb our pyramid and become professional soccer players.
Washington Freedom’s goal is to have all teams in the club play a similar style and system of that of the professional team. This will provide continuity, understanding and the opportunity to observe and evaluate at all levels. We ask all youth club members to attend as many senior team matches as a part of their development and this reinforces this concept.
We work within the current youth soccer environment in a spirit of cooperation, all in the mantra of player development and opportunity. It is our goal to be a resource and work with the area clubs to further develop their players and coaches and spread the love of the women’s game.
